With HTD Cisam-Ernst offers a technology that allows to measure quickly (less than a minute) and accurately case depth of hardened layers, avoiding operations such as sectioning of the sample, embedding, polishing and therefore without damaging the integrity of the workpiece.
The principle (Ernst patent) is based on making a single impression by progressively applying load and measuring at regular intervals the reached depth without influences due to bending or subsidence.
This sampling is equivalent to carrying out a very high number of impressions in a single point.
Through the continuous acquisition of the values detected with the progressive load application, the load - hardness curve is obtained: from that – thanks to a proprietary algorithm - the value of the depth of the heat treatment and the curve schematic of the hardened surface layer are obtained.
